  • UK interest rates raised to 4.75%
    • The Bank of England increased rates by a quarter of a percent to 4.75% in an effort to keep inflation in check.

    • Industrial Production in the UK unexpectedly contracted in June after a sharp fall in output in the energy sector, according to official figures released Monday
    • Forecasts were for an increase of 0.2%, but the actual result was a fall of 0.1%.

    House prices up 7.7% says Land Registry .

    • House prices in England and Wales were 7.7% higher in the second quarter of this year compared with the same period in 2005, according to a report by the Land Registry published on Tuesday.
